I got a Samsung x497 phone about a week ago. When I first got it, the instant messaging application worked fine... I could sign onto AIM, etc. I had some problems with my address book, and eventually Cingular sent a reset to my phone, and my address book was fixed. A week later, I tried to use instant messaging again and now it wont even bring me to the screen to choose a service. It just shows a screen with a chat bubble and smiley face.. the screen it shows while loading the program. I've tried turning the phone off for awhile, but I cannot get the IM to load... any ideas?
Sounds like Cingular deactivated Instant Messaging. You should call them and have them reactive it then it should work fine.

It wasnt the service.. it was a software issue with the IM client itself. I exchanged the phone today for one with a working IM application.

I thought it was because of the reset Cingular sent to you, hopefully you got a new phone, congratulations on it ;)

yep, now that everything on my phone works, I love my new x497
