Need help deciding...

Hello all. Today I thought maybe I could get some input from people who probably have played with, or possess the phones I want to choose between.

My 2 year contract with VW ends soon, meaning I get the $100 credit for the "new every two" thing. And my contract isn't the only thing ending soon... My poor VX6000 works fine, but the exterior is dying, due to my active lifestyle:( .

So I was considering the following phones:

Motorola E815
Samsung sch-A970
LG VX-8100
LG VX-9800

Things I'm looking for include camera clarity, how vivid the colors are on screen, and being able to use your own mp3's as ringtones (method of transfer to the phone too).

Any input on those topics would be much appreciated. And if there's anything else I should know, like "feels cheap" or "scratches easily", that'd be great too.

Oh and as for this phone.. I'll be babying it so it doesn't end up turning into my next VX 6k:rolleyes:

like you, i waited to get a new phone until after my contract was up an di ended up paying only 100$ for the vx9800 because of the rebate

the phone is great... the only two things that really piss me off about it are, you cant set recorded sounds as ringtones... and the lag of the camera.... whatevr you are taking a picture has to remain VERY still...its pretty frustrating especially when im trying to take pictures of my dog or a sports game or something...although its 1.3 megapixels, the look of the camera lens is decieving... and the flash only works close up... but the AIM is unbelievable... people complain about onlt like 25 people show up but once you activata AIM for the phone, a buddy group is added on to your AIM buddy list and you can customize who shows up on the phone

Have the 815 and love it - my philosophy, it's a phone, not a camera. As far as the ringtones go, get a Trans Flash and your ringtones are unlimited... check the forums for info on that.

yeah, the e815 is awesome. camera is ok, but I agree with jpdiso that cell phone cameras are not really useful for serious camera use.

mp3 ringtones are easy to get on: email it to your number and voila!

A970 has nice camera, but I am not sure about the ringtones ... I guess they should be on the memory card.
